If you are suddenly loosing a lot of hair, there is usually a reason for this. Extreme stress, poor nutrition, a health condition/illness, genetics, mechanical damage (too tight of pony tails, breakage etc.)
I would also wonder if you recently delivered a baby. 4-6 months after delivery, once hormones begin to level out, women will loose boatloads of hair, this is totally normal. Or are you under extreme stress in your life. Do you notice any bald patches beginning. If so, you're talking alopecia, and this can occur during times of extreme stress. Many college students can experience this. Another issue could be a thyroid problem. There are several symptoms that come with thyroid issues, but thinning hair always seems to be one of the issues with that. If it seems to not be getting any better, you should probably talk to your doctor. He can run a simple blood test to see if it is your thyroid or not.
One word of advice, don't use over the counter Rogaine products. It contains minoxidil (spelling?? sorry) which was actually a DRUG used to treat high blood pressure. It enters into your blood stream. Years ago, when it was a new drug, the noticed one of the side effects was it caused people to grow hair all over their bodies. So they took it off the market and tried to use it for people to grow hair on their heads. The problem is, it does enter your blood stream and when you quit using it, if you did get any hair from it, it will usually all fall out again within 2-3 weeks. (If it isn't in your blood stream anymore, then it won't help your hair.....make sense??)
If you really feel you want to use a product to help with the loss, go with Nioxin. It is natural and will not enter your blood stream. The Cleanser (shampoo) and Scalp Therapy (conditioner) will help you to hold on to the hair you do have, will slow down the loss. The Treatment and Follicle Booster will help you to grow new hair. I've seen this stuff do some amazing things with a little bit of time. Visit a salon that carries Nioxin and hopefully, you'll get to talk to someone that has had some experience with the product and has had the product education. Just want you to know there are other options out there for you.

I had very Thick and silky hair, but nowadays i am losing a lot of hair.Is there any solution to get rid of ? Are you pregnant? This could be a factor in (temporary) hair loss.
Or, if you are recovering from an eating disorder, this could also cause hair loss.
Stress, of course, could also be to blame.
Other conditions that cause hair loss (such as alopecia) should be discussed with a physician.
I had very Thick and silky hair, but nowadays i am losing a lot of hair.Is there any solution to get rid of ? Oh my gosh. DONT USE ROGAINE! once you start using it it is recommended to never stop becuase it makes hair loss worse. Nioxin is the product to look for to promote hair growth. Now, have you had pregnancy? Stress? Changed your eating pattern? It really can be a number of things like they said....you really do need more information to answer this question, but something to think about....naturally you loose 40-100 hairs a day! Just shedding. Sounds crazy. So if you have worn your hair in a pony tail more often or have curly hair and wear alot of products in your hair you might just think about this - your shedding hairs dont have any where to go if they are stuck in your hair products with curly hair or could just be stuck in your pony tail untiil you let it down for them to shed away from your head. Also I have had alot of people who just actually notice shedding more because they color their hair darker and are able to acually see the darker hair....?? Never know but those are some ideas. Hope they helped.
I had very Thick and silky hair, but nowadays i am losing a lot of hair.Is there any solution to get rid of ? there are several factors that contribute to hair loss. Some hair loss daily is normal...the average person loses anywhere from 35-45 hairs a day. if you are on any medication that can be a contributing factor. Hair loss is also heredity. I am a licensed cosmetologist and usually when my clients come to me with this problem i tell them about Nioxin. It is a line of professional hair care products that can help, however they don't always work for everyone. I use them myself because i have the same problem, mine is hereditary. They have shampoo and conditioner which prepare the hair and scalp for their line of styling products. If you try these products i recommend getting the follicle booster in addition to others. They have different products for each hair type like thinning hair and noticeably thinning hair, etc. They also have it for colored treated hair. Ask your hairstylist. (the products don't work over night give them sometime, i used them for 6 months before i noticed a difference). You can also go to www.nioxin.com to check them out. Good luck, i hope this helps!
I had very Thick and silky hair, but nowadays i am losing a lot of hair.Is there any solution to get rid of ? I agree, Nioxin is a good product.
This same thing happened to me when I graduated high school and went off to college. It happened because I wasn't eating right. You need more protein
I had very Thick and silky hair, but nowadays i am losing a lot of hair.Is there any solution to get rid of ? I had the same problem once and it turned out to be the shampoo I had switched to when I colored my hair. I started using a more gentle shampoo (I think it might have been Aveda) and it stopped shortly after that.
It might also be stress related or have you started any new medications? The pill turned my hair stick straight, for example.
