Would a straight perm do me any good considering I dont have curly hair? What about a relaxor?

Look into buying some shampoos that are specifically made to help frizzy hair. The Fructis line is very good for this. I've also found it helpful to buy a leave-in conditioner spray and keep my hair (which is the same way) braided overnight to minimize the frizz.

The chances of you having pin straight hair without going to a salon to have it professionally straightened are slim, though you can purchase straightening irons for very little and these will give you temporary results without the damage caused by chemical relaxers.

A relaxor would be good if you want it straight forever. It's very difficult to get your hair back to being curly after you've used a relaxor. A straightener would work if you did it right.

A relaxer and a straight perm are the same thing, and you could either try that or thermal reconditioning (Japanese hair sraightening). The latter is a lot more expensive though!

okay. use a straightening iron. i do that.

also, i use the herbal essences straightening shampoo and spray. i also use a styling brush and my blow dryer. to style it it does take about 30 minutes, but it is sooooo worth it. (it might not take that long for you, but my hair is very thick, frizzy, and curly!!!)

Relaxor is your best bet. Then get hot oil treatments every other month. Smooth shiny hair...very sexy!

Use a frizz controlling shampoo. Sunsilk and garnier have some good products out there that are inexpensive. Don't use relaxer, it will make your hair dull. I hope you're not just trying to go the obvious route to be like all the other dull, listless, straighthaired people. You could always use your hair's attributes to your advantage. Play up your face shape, its all about framing.

we have the same hair!!! use a CERAMIC flat iron cause the others wont work believe me also there is this stuff made by JICIO I think thats how its spelled anyway you can get it at master cuts and prob sallys Im not home so i cant remember exactally what its called but it works wonders (like $25 a bottle though) dont do anything perminate it will damage your hair more then it would a different hair type

I have the same problem, and armed with my arsenal of beauty products, I can make straight hair happen! I start with a good cut - its much easier to deal with your hair when your ends are trimmed and you have layers. Then I shampoo/condition with Sleek Look by Matrix - this set kicks some serious butt. I use their Lite styling cream in my wet hair. I have heard good things about their Heavy as well, but I don't need it. Then I use a round brush and blow dryer to blow it straight.

Once it's dry, I use a flat iron and the Matrix flat iron spray to tame the wispies and frizz. This routine seems long and complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it will take you less than an hour. Good luck, and stay away from those permanent straighteners - I have heard bad things about those.

I would do a straight perm so if you change your mind later, you can still reactivate your wave without doing much damage.

You have many options. They have at home straightening kits such as PhytoSpecific Relaxer Index 1 or 2, Rusk Radical Anti-Curl Relaxer, Matrix Opti Smooth, Ogilvie Relaxer. These are fairly easy to use at home.

Salon chemical straightening such as Thermal reconditioning (Japanese Straightening) is a more permanent and expensive solution. It has AWESOME results but you have to make sure your stylist is educated with the product because it can seriously damage your hair if not done properly. Also you have to retouch your roots every few months.

Another option is to use a flat iron w/ straightening, smoothing styling products. Be sure to invest in a very good flat iron like Sedu or Chi. But this option takes more time, but the results are often very good.

Depending on how much time you want to spend straightening your hair, decide which best will fit your lifestyle. But if all else fails, a good blow out and flat iron will always leave you with nice silky straight hair.
