When i wear my hair down it becomes a big dry frizzy afro without any curl definition. I don't anythging that will make it straight. I want to be able to wear it out curly. What are the best products that i can use in order to achieve my goals?

I have long/ thick/dry/frizzy/curly hair due to my latin heritage. All i want to do is be able to wear it down

Ooo, girl I'm Latina tambien with the same type of hair.

First off, we need to start by improving hair from the inside. Drink about 8 cups of water daily, eat plently of protein, fruits, vegetable, and omega 3 fatty acids (found in fish).

Latin, Biracial, African-American, and Mediterranean hair tends to be dryer than Caucasian hair, so moisture is a must. Buy a good, salon-quality moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, and leave-in conditioner.

Try not to wash your hair everyday if you can help it, and if you have to wash it everyday, do not use shampoo daily because it strips hair of natural moisture and oils. Do use conditioner daily. Go in the shower, wet your hair, and apply a good amount of conditioner. It's better to brush it now because it will minizmize breakage. Then after about 10 minutes, wash it out with warm water and finish with a cool/cold water rinse for shine.

Squeeze excess water out of hair and start by using a leave-in conditioner to protect hair from UV Rays, and harsh chemicals in mousse, gel, etc. You might want to scrunch with a gel, mousse, but try not to use hairspray. It never works with scrunching curls.

You might also want to use a deep conditioning treament weekly or biweekly. Use a salon-quality one, because there really is a difference in it from very cheap products.

I made a FreeWebs just as a thing for myself to keep track of good products, but I listed some very good products along with good haircare websites if you want to look.

http://www.freewebs.com/fashionmami/

When your hair is dry, do NOT brush it because that is what makes it into an afro. Also, if you can't wash it because it's a very little time to get ready, seperate hair into about 8 sections. Wet the sections with water and put in leave-in conditioner. Brush out the section and then twist, then scrunch using gel. Do this to each section, one by one.

Along with gel to scrunch, you may want to buy a curl booster. This will tighten and define curls and will also help keep frizz to a minimum or rid it completely.

Hope I helped!

I have long/ thick/dry/frizzy/curly hair due to my latin heritage. All i want to do is be able to wear it down

Ok, my hair was insaly thick, so I kinda know what you mean when it goes crazy on ya. See if you can get layers in your hair. My hair now weighs like, twenty pounds less! I would ask a hair stylist and see what they have to say.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:))))

I have long/ thick/dry/frizzy/curly hair due to my latin heritage. All i want to do is be able to wear it down

u should proly get it thinned out,and use sum gel or mouss, that always helps, good luck!XD

I have long/ thick/dry/frizzy/curly hair due to my latin heritage. All i want to do is be able to wear it down

I have thick curly hair myself. I use Curls Rock by Catwalk and it works well for taming the frizzies. Catwalk has other products for curly hair that can be used with Curls Rock that may offer additional control if you need it.

I have long/ thick/dry/frizzy/curly hair due to my latin heritage. All i want to do is be able to wear it down

I have very curly, thick hair as well. The key is to try and keep it condtioned and also use products designed for curly hair. I love Catwalk Curls Rock shampoo and conditioner. They have built in curl enhancers in them and it makes me once dry hair feel soft. I also use Tresemme curl defining mousee and it works wonders! I get people asking me all the time if I have a spiral perm because it defines my curls so well. Once you style your wet hair try to not mess with it in any way. THe more you play with curly hair the frizzier it gets. ANd if you blow dry....air drying is best....use a diffuser.

Hope that helps and good luck!

I have long/ thick/dry/frizzy/curly hair due to my latin heritage. All i want to do is be able to wear it down

well first of all, what shampoo are you using? because i recommend Garnier Fructis Curl %26amp; Shine. It works really well, and adds moisture. Dont forget to use the conditioner.

This may sound gross, but what i do is i shampoo my hair maybe only twice a week, and condition it everytime i shower. shampooing takes away moiture, and volume too. But if your hair gets greasy easily this wont be a good idea. you might want to try it, hopefully it works!

I have long/ thick/dry/frizzy/curly hair due to my latin heritage. All i want to do is be able to wear it down

My hair always frizzed up really bad. Then I went to a hair salon and had it trimmed and layered which helped. They also suggested a gel that I put in my hair before I style it. It's called super skinny and it seems to help keep the frizzies down. I also use a straightening iron on mine so that I have straight hair. If you want to keep curls try the gels for curls.

I have curly, thick, and fine hair......?

I need a good way to straighten it permanantly without damaging it... any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks.

I have curly, thick, and fine hair......?

go to a salon or use a chi straightener ive heard those damage your hair less.

I have curly, thick, and fine hair......?

go to a parlor....get it done and good girl..

I have curly, thick, and fine hair......?

shave your head.lol

I have curly, thick, and fine hair......?

No way to striaght it permanantly. Temporary and semi-fried are your best bets... But Mixed Chicks products will ELIMINATE YOUR FRIZZ and DEFINE YOUR CURLS without harsh chemicals. You can also use Mixed Chicks deep conditioner as a pre treatment before you blow or iron your hair straight. Then when you wash it, it will go back to curly, but wihout getting fried. To use Mixed Chicks just shampoo, deep conditon, then for curls...apply their leave-in to your hair when wet and air dry.

You can check them out at and get curly hair tips at... http://www.mixedchicks.net/longcurlyhair...

Good luck.

Is the chi straightener good thick frizzy wavy hair, and will it dry out my hair more than it is alr

i have a CHI. i also have frizzy thick curly hair. it does dry out your hair but i always use a shine serum to smooth the ends and help my hair look more healthy. whenever you wash your hair just use a deep conditioner to help your hair repair from some of the heat damage and try not to flat iron so often. let your hair rest some days.

Is the chi straightener good thick frizzy wavy hair, and will it dry out my hair more than it is already?

I prefer GHDs but Chis are good. It always helps to have your hair thinned out a little to ease flat ironing, but no, it will not dry your hair out that much as long as you use a good heat protection spray.

Is the chi straightener good thick frizzy wavy hair, and will it dry out my hair more than it is already?

Chi's will help with the frizz but if you buy a moisturizing shampoo conditoner and heat tamer then it wont damage your hair.

Is the chi straightener good thick frizzy wavy hair, and will it dry out my hair more than it is already?

NO! i have the same type of hair and mine gets more frizzy if i DONT use my chi. also, you can try some silk infusion(which is a chi product), it will reduce frizzy and make your hair remarkably smooth.

HOPE i HAVE HELPED!

閳绢櫒ecca閳?br>Is the chi straightener good thick frizzy wavy hair, and will it dry out my hair more than it is already?

Yeah, try Sedu thermal protection spray it comes in different kinds and you should get the moisturizing one.

btw...CHIs break really fast. Well...some do. My friend had one that only lasted her a month. But a lot of people on here say that they have had theirs for years. I would go with a GHD. much better quality.

Is the chi straightener good thick frizzy wavy hair, and will it dry out my hair more than it is already?

I like to apply the Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide on my hair and then use my Solia straightener to straighten. Works really great together, especially since I have thick frizzy wavy hair also. Sedu straighteners also work really well.

Is the chi straightener good thick frizzy wavy hair, and will it dry out my hair more than it is already?

use a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, heat protectant (my favorite is Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide), and do monthly conditioning treatments with any flat iron. I've been using my CHI for 5 years, but I've heard the ghd is even better.

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

I was wondering if getting my hair layered would be a good style for my hair, if not what would be?

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

It will make your hair more poofy.

Shampoo and conditon with Sunilk Anti Poof

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

i have the same hair style. mine's layered. avoid bangs if possible, because they won't look good unless your hair is straightened.

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

if u get ur hair japanesse straightened with layers, that would look really cute!!

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

I have the exact same hair and it is long so I find that long layering works best for me without bangs. That way I can wear it up or pin it back when it's a bother or I am just doing things around the house. I leave it loose and natural when I am going out somewhere.

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

yes layered with no bangs... i have the same hair, and i straighten mine a lot.. i just got layers yesterday, and it looks good.

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

Do not get your hair layered. It will make it even bigger and frizzier. I too have frizzy, thick, curly hair. You should also keep your hair longer than shoulder length. Keep your hair moisturized. I personally use Herbal Essense CURL shampo and conditioner. Then when my hair is soaking wet put in John Freeda Collection serum. Go to sleep with your hair in a bun. Then put gel (scrunch it) and hairspray, both Herbal Essense when you wake up. I swear it has never looked better if you do this. If you have any other questions, e-mail me and I can help you!

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

If you have thick curly hair, layers is the last thing you want because it will give it a stacked look there for making it look bigger and puffier. If you do get layers keep them long and on the bottom. As for the frizz you just need a good shampoo and conditioner like Redkens Fresh Curls and something to style it so it won't dry without anything to tame It. I like Redkens fresh curls mousse and curl booster spray. also Redkens ringlet and Bed heads curls rock- hair spray to hold it all in place. I have curly hair to and it use to be out of control. Good luck. Hope I helped some. Please add me to your contacts and email me w/ any hair questions you have via yahoo answers.

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

im not a girl

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

Layers made mine poof up more. I do have mine stacked now, though, and love it.

Hairstyle for thick frizzy wavy/curly hair?

I have like the same. But if you get short layers it will look really poofy if you don't straighten your hair. but if you get long layers and wear it curly or wavy or whatever it looks really cute. especially if you scrunch it with moose or gel

I have heard a lo tof people saying their great but I there are so many and I am not really sure wich is the best for my hair.

I have thick light brown hair and i am thinking of getting a CHI straightener. Which one would be the best?

Sedu's are way better than CHI's for sure. CHI's tend to brake or just not work or burn after 6 months to a year. If you don't mind buying a 100 - 200 dollar straightener every 6 months, then go with a CHI. Anyways, Sedu's have way better reviews. Take a look for yourself:

I have thick light brown hair and i am thinking of getting a CHI straightener. Which one would be the best?

they all work really well you really can't go wrong.

I have thick light brown hair and i am thinking of getting a CHI straightener. Which one would be the best?

wow CHI are the BEST i love them they use them at regis where i get my hair cut you can find them there but they are gonna cost you the one i looked at was just a sold back it was almost 300.00 it was a normal flat iron but it is well worth your money if you choose not to get a CHI make sure you get one with ceramic plates not ceramic coated plates thats how must of them are made now

I have thick light brown hair and i am thinking of getting a CHI straightener. Which one would be the best?

I don't have a CHI straightener but I've had a Sedu ceramic straightener for about 3 years and I love it! It had better customer reviews than CHI on Folica.com and was about the same price (depending on what model you want) and that's why I got it. I have frizzy, thick, curly hair and it makes it so smooth. Even if it rains my hair doesn't frizz!

Check out the customer reviews for yourself. A lot of them bash the CHI!

What's the secret to having thick and beautiful hair?

Genetics and a good haircut. After that, there's the marketing hype behind the products that promise this.

Cheers.

What's the secret to having thick and beautiful hair?

Use good shampoo and conditioner. Believe it or not, pantene actually works.

okay, i have thick hair as well, and ponytails are like all I do. First, comb your hair back. Then, grab your hair back with your hands as if you were to put half your hair up into a half pony. Then, using one hand to hold your hair there, put your other hand under the rest of your hair at the nape of your neck and push it up to meet the hair you have already pulled back. now, holding all of your hair together, tie it back with a thick, strong hairtye. this is an easy style to maintain. ~

How do I put my hair up in a ponytail? I have tryed for weeks and I still cant get it. (My hair is thick)?

Well, the way I do it is....lay on my stomach on my bed and put my head over the edge and just pull it together!.! hope it works! if it doesn't email me and i'll find something else

How do I put my hair up in a ponytail? I have tryed for weeks and I still cant get it. (My hair is thick)?

i have really thick hair too. and the way i do it is i comb my hair back. then i smooth it out with my fingers to get rid of the bumps. i hold my hair with one hand and use the other hand to put up the hair at the back of my neck. i twirl my hair to get it all together and then i put a firm hairband to hold it.

How do I put my hair up in a ponytail? I have tryed for weeks and I still cant get it. (My hair is thick)?

You need to use some type of wax, applying it at the base of your scalp at least 1" in length throughout your entire head of hair, then starting in the middle(where you want your ponytail to be pulled up to) began taking section of hair and brush towards the ponytail section with a bristle brush, continue taking 1" sections until you've reached your hair line then smooth that remaining part up towards your established ponytail section in the middle of your head... May sounds complicated but I Promise it works, and your hair strands remains in tact. Good Luck.

What is the best hair for african american with thick curly virgin hair?

I personally like it short, about 1 inch all the way around. No Afro or braids.

What is the best hair for african american with thick curly virgin hair?

"virgin" hair??????

What is the best hair for african american with thick curly virgin hair?

I'm not sure what virgin hair is but if you are beautiful I think a free 'flowing' afro is really cool and pretty. If your looks are average or below straightened is the most managable. It's probably really hard on your hair tho. Braids can look cute just not so tight that it pulls hair out over time and makes bald patches.

What is the best hair for african american with thick curly virgin hair?

JUST LIKE A TRUE VIRGIN........DON'T LET ANYONE TOUCH IT!!!!!! GO NATURALLY CURLY WITH A NICE SHEEN TO IT BY FRUCTESSE SHINE N' CURL GEL(GREEN BOTTLE LINE).

BYE AND LOL.

What is the best hair for african american with thick curly virgin hair?

Are you asking about hair care for natural hair? If so, try qhemetbiologics.com. They have a range of products for natural hair. They also have a recommendation chart based on your hair needs. I have been ordering from her for over a year and I love the products. The alma %26amp; olive hair cream would be good since your hair is thick. The products are handmixed and are great!

Also nappturality.com is an excellent natural haircare website.

You start off with a strong hold gel put it all over your head and comb it going up and then blow dry it with your hands going up. if your hair does not stay ;it may be to long you may need to cut it. In that case you should ask your barber to help you.

I have got thick and bushy hair likre hermione in harry potter!!!!!!!!!what should i do?????????

I would try some anti frizz shampoo and conditioner, like John Frieda Frizz-Ease, and then blow dry it straight. Get a good salon professional hairdryer with a good slim concentrator nozzle and blow it down. You can also leave it to dry naturally after using frizz ease and it will help your natural curls to be defined and sleek. I'd give the serum a go aswell. Hope I helped :)

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

What should I tell the hair salon how to cut it?

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

I WOULDNT RECOMMEND YOU THIN OUT YOUR HAIR TRUST ME , JUST GET LAYERS IN YOUR HAIR , USE THE FLAT IRON THAT WILL HELP ALOT TO MAKE YOUR HAIR LOOK THINNER BUT DNT GO THIN IT OUT

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

what ever your heart desires

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

what ever u want

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

Most men love long hair so I wouldn't cut it if I were you. But you can get a hair salon to trim it and layer it to look thinner.

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

why is long thick hair bad?

every time my ball and chain says she's going to cut her hair i beg her not to

and i'm not sure why thick is bad either

but it's really all just up to you

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

i have thick long hair and i asked for it to be cut in long layers and angled (shorter in front to longer in back) so that it lays nicer and it easier to care for.

i wouldnt get it thinned tho.

just my opinion.

if you go to a full service salon they can tell you what is best for you hair and help you find solutions for making it more manageable.

hope this helps.

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

You could a little to make it more manageable. Just be sure to go to a good salon so they do it properly. It's a blessing to have thick hair. It is stronger than the average and has more body, so don't thin it out too much. You are a blessed woman.

My hair is very thick and long, should I thin it out?

hair shouldn't take too long to groom, so if you thin it it will be that much less you have to deal with, a style that is long as you like but either layered or thinned is a great solution to keeping it looking nice.

I have thick, really curly hair, and i have so much body. any tips on styles or anything?

My hair is the same way, and believe me, it's hard to manage. I wouldn't recommend layering it like some people have been saying it because it gives your hair added volume (it gets lighter and consequently frizzier -- not a good idea). However, I've found that getting my hair cut to about shoulder length, basically straight across, and then getting "reverse layers" (the hair underneath is cut just a little bit shorter than the outside hair) helps your hair to lay flatter. To manage some of the body (I would assume that you mean that your hair is frizzy), when my hair is wet, I apply a gel and a leave in conditioner, and let my hair dry naturally. (If you blow dry it, it gets frizzier -- this method keeps my hair curly but not frizzy, drastically reducing the volume). I've also found that straightening my hair works wonders (unless you like curly hair, lol). I use a CHI tourmaline / ceramic straightener -- I loooove it, it's the only straightener that works on my hair and believe me, I've tried a lot, lol -- and a heat protectant, and it will usually stay straight for a few days. Another good idea is to use a wide barelled curling iron on top of your natural curls because it will decrease the volume a little bit and make your hair look better put together (and most people don't even know the difference!!). A great shampoo and conditioner set to use is Sunsilk, in the green bottle, to tame frizz -- it's actually the only shampoo that I've found that works for my hair (frizz-ease and a lot of other products tend to discolor your hair / make it greasy). I hope that these ideas work for you -- they did for me!! Good luck and enjoy your more manageable hair!!!

I have thick, really curly hair, and i have so much body. any tips on styles or anything?

how about layering it so that there isn't a lot of volume towards the bottom half of your hair; I have curly hair too (except it's thin) and for me layering really helps. Or you could place it in a bun or pony tail and letting some of the curls fall?

I have thick, really curly hair, and i have so much body. any tips on styles or anything?

My hair is the same way... I would definitely recommend getting LONG layers put in to mimimize the triangular look and allow the hair to curl into ringlets instead of being too bushy.

The key, I have found is to not use shampoo too often- and to use the right products. I shampoo only about twice per week, but I do soak all of my hair and condition the ends every morning, which keeps it clean and smelling good. Good products are the key. It can get pricey, but I think it is worth it. I absolutely love the Bumble and Bumble line called "curl-conscious". I spray the tonic on my head while it is still really wet, then comb it through. Next I use the Bumble and Bumble curling creme. Next I emulsify some Coconut Oil Hair Shine from The Body Shop, flip my head over and scrunch the ends to allow the curls to get some definition. (All of the above steps MUST HAPPEN WHILE THE HAIR IS WET) Then.... and this is the most important part: DON'T TOUCH IT OR LET ANYONE BRUSH IT. LET IT AIR DRY or, I find that the heater in my car works great to get it dry before I get to the office. Headbands with teeth can work, but the teeth have to be at least an inch or so apart, so that it doesn't wreck the ringlets. As for formal occasions, a loose bun with tendrils is simple, classy and what all of the straight haired people wish that they had. Oh, the Frizz-Ease, Aussie, Sebastian and Garnier Fructise lines work pretty well, too. I am 30 years old, and have done a ton of research on this.

Straighteners are okay, but I find that they always leave a crimp at the top of my head, and people always ask me why I messed with my hair.

Good luck, the good news is that when your hair is good, it is really really good, and you don't have to be generic.

I have thick, really curly hair, and i have so much body. any tips on styles or anything?

Let's see, I have the same type of hair as you do and i have it cute short, it is a lyerd bob, and it looks glamorous. I put in sunsilk (the blue bottle) and it makes my hair shiny and garnier hard curl gel that makes my curls maneagable and not the slightest bit poofy or frizzy

i have curly wavy hair.... i use pink lusters lotion..and blow dry/flat iron... pink lotion is foung in wal-mart in the ethnic hair section and it about $3 but if you want it permant. then you are going to have to go to a sally's and by a relaxer.....this will straighten the hair permenantly... but if your hair is brittle.... you need to get msome protien packs for your hair .... use a thick donditioner... (pantene, tresseme) cholestoral packs are good also.... the pink lotion can be used too..... after you wash your hair put the in you hair pretty good and leave it in overnight ...put it in a bun........ if you have light hair and want to dye it black it wont hold cause it is so brittly......my end always come back through from my highlights.... but get it trimmed before you dye it and since they are bad.... black will need to be dont about once a month and make SURE IT DOES NOT HAVE AMMONIA IN THE COLOR

Ever tried some good products and filtering your shower? That would help you strengthen your hair.. if you are keen to find out more, email me at verityy@yahoo.com

I have a round face with medium length, thick light blond hair. What is my best hair style?

go with an angled bob (higher in the back), part from the side on a little bit harder angle than normal, and go for some low lights! bob are great for any face shape!!

I have a round face with medium length, thick light blond hair. What is my best hair style?

bangs are a deffinitly and probably layers and maybe in towards your face

if you have a round face then i would strigten it and then i would like flip it into your face because it kind of like makes you look cute

Layered cut with at least shoulder length (to minimize the roundness of your face and elongate it a bit.)

No bangs, that just accentuates the roundness. I'd say layers definitely and then angled towards the face in front.

I have a round face with medium length, thick light blond hair. What is my best hair style?

try something with a side part, it adds a lil length to your face to where its not so roundy-round. there are cute styles and cuts with this in mind so try talking to your stylist.

Sort of like Nelly furtado's hair in the music video Say it right. I have long balck hair and dark skin. Would it look all right?

noooo!!dont go for it square faces need to stayaway fromchunky hair bangs especially short ones instead try more of side bangs that surround ur face making it look less wide

nope..try to make your hair surround your head that way it looks real natural and nice

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

i've tried all sorts of hair cuts! layers, short, medium, and i tried letting my hair grow but it takes a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very long time! in about 6 months i grows up to 1 cm and a half! how can i make it grow very fast? or what hair cut should i try?!!!!

pplease help mme!!閳?br>Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

Get regular trims on your hair [about 1/2 and inch every few months]. It will help your hair grow out. Those ads you see in magazines that say they'll help your hair grow out don't work. I've tried a few of them and it was really just a waste of money.

Since your hair is puffy, I definitely wouldn't reccommend a short cut on you. They require lots of work, like straighening and anti-frizz serums, etc. So just try and let it grow out and be patient. It will grow eventually and soon you'll have long hair that you like. For now, try getting a 1/2 inch to an inch cut off your hair and just use anti-frizz cream on it so it doesn't puff.

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

i have the same kind of hair.

you cant really do anything. dont get layers, that makes it more poofy. dont shampoo a lot, it makes it frizzy. just use a lot of conditioner to get nice curls.

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

WELL JUST KEEP TRIMMING YOUR HAIR AND THAT WILL MAKE YOUR HAIR GROW FASTER MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY A JAPANESE PERM (STRAIGHT OR CURLY) READ UP ONIT FIRST BUT IT CAN BE EXPENSIVE OR YOU CAN JUST A NORMAL PERM - OR MAYBE HAVING A DIFFERENT HAIR COLOUR MITE CHANGE YOUR HAIR TOTALLY MAYBE ITS YOUR HAIR COLOUR YOU DONT LIKE BUT YOU DONT RELISE IT - HOPE THAT HELPED EVEN THO IT WASNT ALL ON THE SUBJECT YOU ASKED FOR :P BYEE XXX

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

keep it washed lik every other day for normal and everyday for nrmal hair i think vo5 is the bestest shampoo and always condition second and sleep with ur hair up on top of ur hair

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

try going to a good salon and getting it thinned out. it reaally helps.

i have the same hair type as you. thinning it out helps the poofyness and thickness so much. i just got mine done two days ago and its a whole lot better. if you decide layers, get long layers. your hair will puff less than with shorter layers. growing hair out would weigh it down more and make it less puffy, but in your case, it takes too long. so just get it thinned out =]

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

My hair is exactly like that. I get my hair trimmed every month and b4 school starts i get my hair chemically straightened then in middle of school i get a perm. So thats wat i do. it helps alot and is really funny to see everyones expressions when i go back to school!!

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

I have very thick coarse hair also and it is impossible to find a cut I like. I use biosilk and it helps with the frizz. Try to take some prenatal vitamins, you can buy them over the counter at drug stores. It not only makes your hair grow, your nails will grow also.

Good Luck!!

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

ok i have the exact same hair but 10 times woese. go to the hair cut place of a store where you can get hair products. ask them for a product called curls rock by catwalk. it comes in a blue cylinder shaped bottle. you put it in your hair after you wash it and your hair gets really nice. you can do any style with that product exept layer cause you cant really see it.

Hair cut for puffy, thick , and lots of hair?

let it be natural and try trimming it. it makes ur hair seem less and then u can get any type of hairstyle u want. :)

I have bout an inch below my shoulder hair. Its very thick aswell like?

even when its straight it measures about 2 cms wide and i want to get it cut to above my shoulders, layered and thinned out but my hair always goes frizzy and uncontrollable any hints or advice on what i can do

I have bout an inch below my shoulder hair. Its very thick aswell like?

hair that is round will be straight. hair that is flat, like a ribbon, will curl. youre somewher between. there are products that will 'coat' the hair to make it straighter but that never is permanent. we lose more cells with age, thats why old people tend to have straight hair. not really much you can do to make your hair straight other than products %26amp; steaming. go punk rock.

Whict is better for thick curly frizzy hair a big brush a small brush or a comb?

big brush but wet it under cold water first.

Whict is better for thick curly frizzy hair a big brush a small brush or a comb?

Both. First the big brush and then the small comb over it.

Whict is better for thick curly frizzy hair a big brush a small brush or a comb?

Use a course toothed comb or pick for thick curly frizzy hair. It will take out the tangles with out giving you the HUGE volume that a brush or a regular comb will - to say nothing of the painful tangles.

Whict is better for thick curly frizzy hair a big brush a small brush or a comb?

NEVER brush curly hair. It makes it frizzy. I go to school with this girl who brushes her curly hair. Her hair is so pretty when she doesnt do that. When she does, it's too poofy and the curls have no definition. You should use a pick or a wide-toothed comb. Good Luck.

Whict is better for thick curly frizzy hair a big brush a small brush or a comb?

Use a wide tooth comb. Brushes will make your hair look frizzy. Make sure you use some kind of anti-frizz serum as well....if you use water your hair will still become frizzy and dry looking you don't want that.

Whats a good short hair cut for really thick and wavy hair? i want to donate my hair to locks of lov

Hi, a good haircut is important but the right styling products/technique can be just as important!

For the cut: I recommend lots of layers and the use of thinning techniques with a bit of razoring.

For the styling: It's important to use the right products for your hair, too. I put some lightweight gel in my hair when it's wet. Then use a little bit of styling wax while I 'finger twist/curl' small chunks of hair. Then I blow it dry for a little bit with a diffuser while scrunching the hair. A shot of hairspray helps keep it looking good all day!

It sounds like a lot of work but it's not really that much. I have thick curly/wavy hair and this works well.

Good luck and way to go on the "locks of love" donation!!

:)

Whats a good short hair cut for really thick and wavy hair? i want to donate my hair to locks of love!?

Contact the chapter you're donating to and they can probably hook you up with a stylist who can make suggestions. Never having had curly hair, I can't suggest anything more.

PS Locks of Love is a great thing to do. You're a special person!

Whats a good short hair cut for really thick and wavy hair? i want to donate my hair to locks of love!?

Keep in mind that there is a minimum lenghth of hair you have to donate before Locks of Love will accept it. When I donated it was something like ten inches, so I donated 12.

The end result was that I only had enough hair for a razor bob. Which, for me, was all fine and dandy, because I wanted a style that is wash and go. (my hair is the same type as yours, SUPER thick and wavy, but I have a very coarse texture)

Generally when donating to LoL, girls with longer hair have more options for styling their hair than shorter haired girls, because they may have more left over when the minimum is donated. If you have REEEAALLY long hair, you may be able to keep your hair shoulder length, and do whatever you want to it.

My hair is like thick and poofy?

i've got the same problem.

try using john frieda de-volumizing

serum. it costs about $8 or $9.

actually, all of the frizz ease products

are really good, but i'd try that ^, and

the hairspray.

try using sunsilk anti-poof cream / shampoo

say that they'll block out humidity and frizz.

anyways.

this is what i do:

%26gt; wash hair

%26gt; use curl enhancing gel

%26gt; use a dime sized amount of

regular conditioner and don't rinse.

%26gt; spray w/ john frieda frizz ease hairspray.

AND TAH-DAH.

hardly any volume or poofy ugliness.

What haircuts are good for thick, shoulder-length hair? (for girls)?

It is brown and wavy. I have some small layers and long bangs right now. I don't want to have to use a straightener or curling iron for it. PICTURES PLEASE!

What haircuts are good for thick, shoulder-length hair? (for girls)?

ok well i would say you get a FEW layers. only at the bottom though since ur hair is short. ask the hair people to frame your face and sidebands. my friends has it and it looks so good

What haircuts are good for thick, shoulder-length hair? (for girls)?

Lots of layers.

What haircuts are good for thick, shoulder-length hair? (for girls)?

try doing a lot of layers in your hair it gets ride of most of your hair

What haircuts are good for thick, shoulder-length hair? (for girls)?

My hair is the same way. Get it cut into a lot of layers, that are shorter and angled so they blend with your bangs. The layers will also help your natural waves curl more. Also ask the hair dresser to thin your hair out a bit. It really helps get rid of the bulk.

All I use in the morning after I shower is a firzz serum and a wax or gel and flip my head over and scrunch my hair.

What remedies are there for thick hard wirery hair?

go and get some good shampoo @ conditioner and try leaving the conditioner in over night specially on the ends.

What remedies are there for thick hard wirery hair?

You can keep it under control by using a shampoo for dry hair and a really heavy conditioner. Good one to try is Pantene Pro-V shampoo and Conditioner.

What remedies are there for thick hard wirery hair?

All Soft by Redkin for coarse/thick hair

Softens amazingly! Visit a hairdresser selling redkin and they can hook you up.

I have really thick and short hair, what do i use to make it straight and not damage my hair and shin

use a hair straightening serum. i recommend anything from Tre'semme. I have thick curly hair and it's the healthiest thing I've used thus far. When straightening your hair without a product, it will cause great damage to your hair, it will burn it. By putting a product on it to not only help straighten your hair and make it shiny it will also protect your hair, and burn the product, instead of your hair.

=)

I have really thick and short hair, what do i use to make it straight and not damage my hair and shinny?

If you have thick hair. I suggest not washing it everyday. It will give it more shine. Use a straightener. I'm sure it won't mess up your hair. I have hair similar to use and I just use a hair curler to straighten my hair, and it works out fine.

Good Luck.

I have really thick and short hair, what do i use to make it straight and not damage my hair and shinny?

I think sun silk has shampoo and conditioner to make your hair straight.

I have really thick and short hair, what do i use to make it straight and not damage my hair and shinny?

Depends of several factors. Is your hair layered short %26amp; what length or is it all one length. Is it cut in any particular style. A ceramic flat iron with adjustable temperature (not metal) is best. It really won't damage your hair but you need to renmember to keep it trimmed every 6 weeks. To keep the shine there are a lot of different products that will work but which one also depends alot on your hair texture. coarse and dry hair should use a shine product that has a tint of moisturizing oil, fine limp hair should use a light spray on after styling.

As the old people say ,is it good to apply animal fat (oil)to hair scalp for thick and dandruff free

becouse its hot it deeplly penetrates to the hair roots but still i have qustions regarding that

As the old people say ,is it good to apply animal fat (oil)to hair scalp for thick and dandruff free hair.?

yes its true. pork fat is best though. just grind the fat up and heat it in a skillet till it turns to oit. then pass it thru a strainer when it cools and apply it to your hair working it deeply into your scalp with your fingers. in about 2 weeks you will see the difference. chicken fat is good too and you will have the added benefit of smelling like KFC all day long.

As the old people say ,is it good to apply animal fat (oil)to hair scalp for thick and dandruff free hair.?

Not necessary. A good healthy veg oil with rich proteins will give you better results.

As the old people say ,is it good to apply animal fat (oil)to hair scalp for thick and dandruff free hair.?

If you have a dry scalp it could be just that you are not rinsing your hair anr it has residue from sprays gels etc. Try a little baking soda in your shampoo . Or take a bottle of club soda put a cap of shampoo in it and wash your hair. If you still find you have a dry scalp then buy a hot oil treatment from a beauty store and follow the instructions. Remember skin and hair are affected by what you eat. You might want to look into evening primrose oil capsules but ask your doctor or go to a health food specialist and learn about them.

I want 2 let my hair grow but somr people tell me my hair is too thick. Wat should i do?

you can get your hair thin

I want 2 let my hair grow but somr people tell me my hair is too thick. Wat should i do?

you can grow it out but dont get it thined out because when you get old %26amp; gray you'll want the extra hair plus thinning it damages it

I want 2 let my hair grow but somr people tell me my hair is too thick. Wat should i do?

Get an afro or don't do it you don't want your friends making fun of you.

I want 2 let my hair grow but somr people tell me my hair is too thick. Wat should i do?

You have to determine if your hair is actually THICK (meaning whether each individual hair is thick(diameter) or if the hair is of a fine texture (soft but a lot of hair per square inch)! Most hair is fine. If fine hair, but alot of it, is your problem, you could most likely grow your hair long! The trick is to make sure it is in good health. You must keep it conditioned and trimmed!!! Don't just listen to friends or family! You should go to see a hairdresser that you trust! Most reputable hairdressers will give you advice! Seek a professionals advice! ( call up a salon and explain your dilemma and ask if someone would be kind enough to advise you as to the best thing for you to do) Remember, most people choose their hairdresser NOT because of the price, BUT because they trust them.....find one to trust and you will never want to do without them!!!!!!

Hair help!!! I have long wavy hair, not too thick but thick enough and the longer it gets the harder

it is to style. Anyone have any good styling tips or styling ideas?

Cutting my hair is not an option!!!

Hair help!!! I have long wavy hair, not too thick but thick enough and the longer it gets the harder.....?

I have very similar. Talk to your stylist but try some tips at home:

~Find a good conditioner. Don't just slap a LOT of conditioner up there and hope for the best. Have enough to cover your hair and let it sit. (Maybe like shave your legs while you wait).

~Rinse your hair in cold water (it locks the ends)

~Find a style that works for you

Hair help!!! I have long wavy hair, not too thick but thick enough and the longer it gets the harder.....?

Layer it to make it not so thick. Use Suave conditioner in large quantities to get out the knots (it is cheap and works).

You could always braid it too.

Hair help!!! I have long wavy hair, not too thick but thick enough and the longer it gets the harder.....?

Go to a pro. I have long, wavy hair with the consistency of a horse's tail...my stylist works her magic with potions and hairdryer gymnastics and when I leave it feels like silk and is totally straight. Try a salon, not a hair cuttery or one of those places. It costs more, buy you are worth it!

How can I keep my thick, curly, long hair to be straight, shinny, and healthy?

Actually, if you have natural curl in your hair DO NOT use the extra smooth and straight shampoos (like panteen pro-v) because they will help you with less fuzzy, but more defined curls... I found this out through trial and error. Once or twice a week you can use a protein and balsam based shampoo to keep away the dry and cracked ends, but the only way I have ever gotten my thick wavy and long hair straight and not fuzzy was with a really good flat iron and an extra person (my arms start to fall asleep and go numb by the time I'm halfway done.) The redken hotsets flatironing spray helps, but be careful not to spray too close or your hair will become crunchy. Good Luck!

How can I keep my thick, curly, long hair to be straight, shinny, and healthy?

try using shampoo that has sleek and straight and use cream with a flat iron , you might have to do it sections though

How can I keep my thick, curly, long hair to be straight, shinny, and healthy?

use CHI hair straightener, don't burn your hair by using hair products that will avoid it. Hair straightening too much will burn or dry your hair, so I suggest you hot oil your hair atleast once a week.

it all depends on ur hair it works 4 some ppl but if it dont work 4 u theres a shampoo and cond. its 4 horses and humans it worked 4 me and my friends its in stores

Does Pantene Pro-v thick and full actually thicken your hair?

Pantene is a great shampoo for increasing thickness and conditioning of your hair but be careful not to over use it as it may cause some irritation of your scalp through excessive use

Does Pantene Pro-v thick and full actually thicken your hair?

I've heard pantene is crap for your hair. ALL pantene shampoos contain too much protein and silcone to make hair appear soft and look healthy..they don't actually do anything truly for the hair. Garnier fructis products are a nice alternative because these products actually contain natural oils like jojoba, coconut, and avcado oils that are SUPER important for making your hair healthy. Also drink like 1-2 gallons of water a day and you will notice a change.

Does Pantene Pro-v thick and full actually thicken your hair?

Don`t know. Did not notice.

Does Pantene Pro-v thick and full actually thicken your hair?

No, but it might make it FEEL thicker... the thing about pantene is that it works really well at first, but it coats your hair with wax(to make it look shiney) but after a while you can end up with a waxy build up so you may have to switch to another shampoo for a while

Does Pantene Pro-v thick and full actually thicken your hair?

I think Pantene leaves a wax coating on your hair, so it makes it heavy

How do you blow dry thick, long, frizzy hair?

first of all, you need to put some type of hair cream in there that will protect from any more friziness.then, get a round brush and just blow dry it little bit by little bit (while extending the brush with the hair dryer from scalp to the end slowly). or, when you get a hair trim, watch how they do it so you will know. good luck!

How do you blow dry thick, long, frizzy hair?

let your hair air-dry half way, and then put the dryer on the hottest setting and a medium force. Sandwich the hair between a dryer and a brush to chill out the frizziness and create a smooth and straight style... Also try smoothing shampoo and cream.

How do you blow dry thick, long, frizzy hair?

I have long course thick wavy hair, its is such a mixed blessing. I have found that blow drying my hair makes it so much worse. It frizzes out really bad. If you are determined dry it on a low not too hot setting. Use a big square brush (pref.specially made w//metal to straighten) and then divide your hair into four sec.go through each one. After it is dry run it through a "CERAMIC" straightener. This is the best trick.

*i discovered this cheap hair serum at Sally's Beauty Supply that works like a charm without getting too oily, try Proclaim Glossing Polish. only use 2-5 drops or it will get oily looking!

I have frizzy, thick, dark blonde hair. How can I get straight hair without using a straightner?

if you want it to be a lasting thing, go to your salon for a "Japanese straightening system". It involves relaxer, and can be expensive, but you hair will be silky straight if done correctly

First, you didn't say what kind of straightener. A chemical straightener is also known as a relaxer. An electric straightener is a flat iron. Try using Rusk "Str-8" found in most beauty supply stores, followed by

My hair is too thick and it's like a bush...?

my hair is just like yours, get it layered, and use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, as well as smoothing, panteene and Aussie works well for me also if it gets impossible use leave in conditioners. i found that if you take a little bit of a very thick body lotion and comb it into your hair it really helps with the frizz. if you like straight hair you could get a really good straightener like a chi. hope i helped =]

My hair is too thick and it's like a bush...?

Straightening shampoo and get it thinned at a salon. i have thick hair too. :)

My hair is too thick and it's like a bush...?

My hair is very thick and curly ... when you get haircuts , ask for a razor cut vs thinning shears .. It really takes away the bulk thickness of very thick hair.

Wavy hair trouble! Its thick, flat and frizzy. Got any tips?

My hair is wavy but the waves are uneven- more like kinks and i have a natural wave at the back of my hair so it looks like i have had my hair in a ponytail all day. Help me!!!

Wavy hair trouble! Its thick, flat and frizzy. Got any tips?

Sounds just like me! okay so what i suggest is get your hair layered. You can straighten your hair some days too, with a good flat iron but not too much or you will get heat damage. Also, i use mouse to pump it up all around so its more scrunchy on the sides to go along with the back.

Hope this works for you, doll. 閳?br> -Aubie

Well, I suggest getting a smothing creme, like S-Factor Smoothing Lusteriser. Also, try blow drying your hair or straightening it. This way, you have more control over it.

What is the best drugstore or Sally Beauty Supply hair color for thick, hard to color hair?

Serious answers only %26amp; don't say anything about going to a professional...

I've always colored my hair @ home w/permaniant color, but it tends to "wash out" w/in a few weeks. I'd like brand names that has worked for ppl w/the same problem or any tricks. I have tried leaving it on longer, but w/no luck.

Thanks :)

What is the best drugstore or Sally Beauty Supply hair color for thick, hard to color hair?

That would all depend on how familiar you are with using pro dyes. I too have always dyed my hair with drugstore cheep dyes. And yes going darker does was out with time.

I used pro color once and did not get the color or wear i desired either. I went to sally and I purchased the dye and bases etc. It appears you need to know what shades to place in your hair blues greens etc. You can ask for help from a sales associate. but using the mix and chose yourself products from a pro shop can end up in disaster if you dont know what you are doing.

For now i would stick with a product you know and have used, and do some research on hair dying and maybe take a class before i would get involved more pro chemicals and dyes.

I have not tried a pro dye since, but next time i will do alot more research before i buy. If you plan on always dying your own hair taking a class would be worth the cost and your new knowedge. I have thought about taking a class myself.

You could get straight bangs or get layers.

You could grow you hair long, too.

What is the best way to make my hair grow? my hair is thick but its not long like i will like it so

Just be patient and maintain a healthy diet. Your hair will grow, but it will take time. Don't cut the length, just the split ends. I had my hair cut in short layers, then when I wanted a bob it seemed to take forever to grow out, but it did. I needed to wear a headband to keep the bangs out of my eyes. It was so annoying that I almost cut it a few times. Your hair will grow out. Good luck to you.

What is the best way to make my hair grow? my hair is thick but its not long like i will like it so help me .?

(it's long but it's all good advice)

...

1. The first step to growing long, beautiful hair is by far the most important. It is absolutely non negotiable for anyone who wants healthy hair at any length, but it is also by far the hardest step you will have to follow. In order to have long healthy hair you absolutely have to start with healthy hair. You must cut off every inch that is damaged. If you are going for extreme length, from that point on you will have to treat your hair like delicate, antique lace at all times. Remember, once your hair is at your waist the ends can be as many as six years old. Your hair will go through a lot of trauma in six years no matter how careful you are with it. You *must* start out with healthy hair to have healthy hair when it's long, there's no way around it.

2. Trim your hair often. Damage to your hair will move up from the ends and the only way to stop the damage in its tracks is to remove it as soon as it happens. Trim hair a half inch every month or so (the average rate of hair growth) if you are maintaining your length. If you are actively growing your hair, trim it a half inch every three or four months. In between trims it is beneficial to sit in bright light and snip any splits off the ends of individual hairs with a good pair of hair cutting scissors that you explain to the men in your house are absolutely not to be used for anything else, especially prying off bottle caps when they can't find the bottle opener, which is of course in the drawer where it belongs if they'd just look. I digress. If you are persistent with this method, regular trims may be able to be postponed even longer. If your hair begins to show damage, it is important to trim it more often! Damaged hair doesn't grow, it breaks, and damage will only increase with time.

3. If you don't have someone you trust implicitly to trim your hair for you, find a salon that caters to long hair or at least has a long hair specialist. Remember, it is not in the best interest of most salons or stylists if you rarely make visits to their salon! If your hair is short and styled, you are always there spending money for maintenance. If your stylist tries to convince you that your long, healthy hair should be cut, run screaming from the salon immediately! Make sure that anyone whose advice you consider, be it a stylist, friend or family member, has only the best interest of YOUR acknowledged hair growth goals in mind. Otherwise smile politely and ignore every word they say. You absolutely are not too old, too thin, too short, too gray, too anything to have long hair.

4. Avoid using any heated appliances whenever possible. No blow drying, no curling irons, no hot rollers, and especially no flat irons or crimpers! If you absolutely must blow dry, do so minimally. If you must use hot rollers, use flocked or soft rollers, not spiked plastic rollers. If you insist on using curling irons, flat irons or crimpers on a daily basis, really long healthy hair isn't in your future.

5. Don't use any harsh chemicals on your hair. Definitely no perms and no peroxide! If you must color, use non peroxide color or henna (but not if you have very dry hair... henna tends to be drying but does help to "plump up" fine hair). Hair color with low peroxide is more tolerable, but using these products again and again will eventually affect the health of your hair, it is unavoidable. No perming or straightening ever for any reason. These chemicals actually break down the structure of your hair and rebuild it. Don't do it.

6. Avoid chlorine and saltwater. If you go swimming in either, shampoo your hair as soon as possible after exposure. If you are blonde, you may want to consider using a shampoo specially formulated to remove the green tinge that can come from exposing your hair to chlorine. If you swim very often, invest in a good bathing cap (and to be really kind to your hair, apply deep conditioner and take advantage of the body heat that will be generated while you're wearing it). If you spend a lot of time in the sun, use a conditioner that provides SPF protection against the sun's rays, or cover your hair with a hat or scarf.

7. Be *extremely* careful of what kind of hair jewelry you use. Never use metal barrettes (the "French" style) and absolutely NEVER use rubberbands, they will tear your hair when you try to remove them. Avoid anything that has sharp or rough edges, such as plastic combs with rough seams or hair claws with metal hinges. Never put anything in your hair that attaches with Velcro or springs. If you take anything out of your hair and hair comes out with it, don't ever put it back in your hair. Scrunchies are great, and several can be used if your hair is very long. Need I mention the most fabulous hair accessory of all? Hair sticks of course!

8. Never put your hair in any kind of style that will put undue stress on the individual hairs... no tiny braids, no extremely tight coils. If you pull all or some of your hair into a braid or a ponytail to create your hairstyle, make sure it isn't pulled tight enough to put stress on the roots of your hair. Pulling hair tight repeatedly commonly results in bald patches!

9. Avoid extreme diets. If your body isn't getting enough nutrition, neither is your hair. Even if you try to avoid fat, it's essential that you don't completely eliminate all fat from your diet. Your hair (and body) will surely suffer for it. If you tend to restrict calories then be sure to take a multivitamin (any comprehensive one will do) to make sure both your body and your hair get the daily nourishment they need.

10. Be *extremely* gentle with your hair when it is wet. Don't rub your hair vigorously with a towel, gently squeeze the towel down the length of your hair. Turbie Twists are a great alternative to twisting your hair in a standard towel (I can get all my hip-length hair into one, but just barely). NEVER brush your hair when it's wet, this is when your hair is at its most delicate. Use a very wide-tooth comb to smooth wet hair. In fact, it is best to avoid brushing your hair at all, a wide-tooth comb is always better with the exception of the next step.

11. Be very careful with what you choose to style your hair. When you use a brush, use only natural boar bristle brushes, which are useful in distributing sebum (your hair's natural protective oils) to the ends of your hair and to remove loose hairs. If your hair is so thick that a boar bristle brush won't penetrate, there are several smooth wood brushes on the market that will be kind to your hair. Using a wide-tooth comb is far less damaging but it is important to choose a comb that is molded or has smooth seams (use a bit of sand paper to smooth rough seams if necessary). Comb your hair to detangle it often throughout the day. Work in small sections, always starting close to the ends and working your way up. Knots are hard on your hair and it's best to avoid them at all costs. Tiny knots that absolutely cannot be removed by any other means should be cut from your hair, not torn. Also, nevernevernever back comb or tease your hair with a fine-tooth comb. This will destroy the healthiest of hair in a very short period of time.

12. Comb your hair to ensure all knots have been removed before shampooing. After the knots have been removed, use a boar bristle brush to remove loose hairs, which will also cut down on knotting during shampooing (not to mention keep your plumber at bay).

13. Let your hair get dirty once in awhile. That's right... permission to be lazy, what more could you ask for? Don't shampoo, spend the entire weekend in bed drinking Moet, eating chocolate covered strawberries and watching Out of Africa for the umpteenth time (live vicariously through Meryl Streep by rewinding and watching Robert Redford wash her hair a few times), all while those wonderful natural conditioning oils work their magic. Don't forget the boar bristle brush before shampooing to distribute those oils and for heaven's sake don't forget not to answer the door before shampooing for any reason! Well, unless of course you are expecting Bob to drop by.

14. Don't pile your hair on your head when you wash it, that's just asking for knots. Apply shampoo only to the roots and wash your scalp, then work the shampoo to the ends. You may find adding a bit of water to your shampoo or very quickly ducking under the shower spray after initially applying it to your hair will increase lathering significantly, making it easier to work the soap to the ends of your tresses. When you apply conditioner, work it through to the ends of your hair, smoothing and detangling gently with your fingers as you go. Continue smoothing your hair as you rinse. This will make combing your wet hair much easier.

15. If you wash your hair often or have very dry hair, you may want to consider using only conditioner to wash it on occasion. If your hair isn't very dirty the conditioner will easily rinse away surface contaminants while allowing you to avoid daily use of the harsher solvents found in shampoo.

16. Rinse your hair in as cold water as you can stand. Not only will this make the cuticle lay flat and less likely to snag and break, but by the same token you'll get the added benefit of very shiny hair that's easier to comb wet. Yes, you will get used to doing this, even in the shower, and it is wonderfully invigorating for your whole bod, not just your hair. I know, I know... I couldn't convince Hubby either, but it's true, I swear! Trust me.

17. If your hair is especially coarse, extremely curly, or if you didn't heed my stern advice in Step 1 (don't make me come over there) and your hair is damaged, you may want to consider using a leave-in conditioner in addition to a regular rinse-out conditioner (I recommend Infusium-23, but there are many good ones out there). In some cases, leave-in conditioners may replace rinse-out conditioners altogether.

18. Become familiar with the ingredients in your styling products. Once you know what affects your hair positively or detrimentally, you will be able to effectively choose products that contain ingredients that are best for your hair type. For instance, some people find that their hair does not respond well to silicone products (found in most "smoothing" or "anti frizz" products and many conditioning shampoos), if used over a long period of time. Any ingredient that ends with the suffix "cone" in the ingredient list is usually a silicone derivative and should be avoided by those sensitive to it (I am not decrying products containing silicone, only stating an example... I regularly use some products that contain small amounts of silicone with no ill effects on my own hair). Products that nourish your hair with natural ingredients that are available at most health food stores are excellent alternatives to the chemical laden, overpriced high-end lines sold in department stores and salons (I can personally recommend Nature's Gate products, of which there is a wide variety from which to choose). Either way, what matters most is to use whatever works best for your hair, not what is necessarily the hottest trendy product or for that matter, the most cost efficient product. This is one of those steps to growing long, healthy hair in which common sense plays a huge role.

19. Deep condition your hair at least monthly, even if it's in good shape this will help keep it that way. If your hair is dry or damaged, deep condition weekly. Hot oil treatments are a good alternative for very dry hair or for extra conditioning (but be forewarned, to some extent hot oil treatments will lift any non permanent color you've added). You might want to try washing and applying conditioner at night, wearing a shower cap to bed, and rinsing in the morning for a really intense conditioning treatment as well. A word to the wise... conditioning nights have been conclusively proven to be detrimental to romantic evenings with the significant other. Use this information to your own best advantage.

20. Lessen the friction on your hair whenever possible. Don't sleep with your hair loose or if you must, use a satin pillowcase. If your hair is very long and prone to getting caught in car windows, seat belts, doors, or even under your butt when you sit down, it's important to remember that all these things can cause damage to your precious locks. Wear your hair braided or in an updo hairstyle (did I already mention hairsticks?) whenever possible to avoid daily wear and tear. And we all know, no matter what promises hair product manufacturers claim, the ONLY way to fix damaged hair is to CUT IT OFF... perish the thought!

HOPE IT HELPS!! x
