I have really thick and frizzy hair, what product besides a flat iron works?

I had curly hair and had it chemically straightened. The curl is gone but now I'm still stuck with the frizz.

OK FIRST OF ALL IM GOING TO DISAGREE WITH LILJJBUTTERFLY. (SORRY TO PUT YOU OUT THERE HUH) IF YOU CHEMICALLY STRAIGHTENED YOUR HAIR, IT WOULD BE REALLY STUPID TO PUT A PERM ON IT. REALLY, REALLY STUPID!

On a different note. I have frizzy hair and I use Pantene Extra Straight shamp and conditioner. And after I wash my hair and completely rinse it, I use a glosser after i get out and towel soak my hair to get the excess water out. The glosser feels slightly slimy, and so makes it really easy to brush it while its wet. But when my hair dries, it is sooooooooo soft. Oh heaven. lol. I love it. Try a glosser. FRIZZ EAZE or something like that. The one I use has extra aloe and some other natural ingredients in it. I get it from a beauty supply store, not wal-mart or target. Make sure if you do get it, the store is multi racial, not just white or black or whatever. Make sure they do all of it, then you will have a bigger selection. The glosser I use is for black hair, and like I said, it works wonders. So, good luck.

to take care of the thick, you could try layering. a comb with a built in razor will ko this nicely. i don't do much to my hair, though, so i wouldn't know exaclty. i'm no help with the frizz. perhaps an anti-frizz shampoo?

Pantene is good, but it has a tendency to build up on your hair. Try the Biosilk. It works well. I kept my curls and use a curling cream which is wonderful for the frizz.

Ok, I feel your pain girl! I have incredibly thick, wavy hair. I tried straightening it, and got the same result. Honestly, you may hate it, but the best bet is to let the curls be. I have learned to love my curls, and the frizz is under control.

An awesome product for overal lfrizz is a product I swear by. It is John Frieda's Frizz-Ease. He has a whole line of products, I just use the serum though. The extra strength stuff actually might be too much, but if the regular formula does not work, try it.

Now for washing my hair, this is tricky. I used to think my frizziness was due to dryness, so I would use extra moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. i read somewhere that build up can also cause frizz, so I tried a clarifying shampoo (Suave clarifying, its cheap, and smells minty). Now I never skimp on my conditioner, I use Pantene Smooth and Sleek. The combo seems to make my hair beautiful, I now hear compliments at least once a day, even stylists tell me they love my hair.

Oh, if the clarifying is too much (make sure it says for daily use, so it is not to ostrong), use it just once a week, and mix in a regular shampoo the rest of the time. Sometimes, that is all you need.

Now, a good cut makes the difference. The straightening you have done probably severely damaged your hair. get the damage cut out. I rarely blow dry my hair (except with mousse and scrunching to make it really curly, which is on special occasions). Ask for long layers in your hair. If you have thick hair, ask them to use a thinning shears every 3 haircuts (too much can actually add poofiness, it is weird).

Phew, seems like alot. I am sorry, but I tried to tell you everything. At least try Frizz Ease and try to limit damage to your hair. I have found to get my hair somewhat straighter, I can pull it back in a twist with bobby pins, let it dry that way completely, then take it down, tends to straighten naturally.
