I have thick, straight, long hair. When I curl it, the curls just straighten out in a few hours. How c

make my hair curly (or just wavy).....and how can I make it stay that way all day without making it rock solid with styling gel?

I had the same prob, but I figured it out!

:)

first wash your hair, even better if you use a curl enhancer shampoo and conditioner because it preps your hair for curls.

Then use a light weight mousse with a flex hold (I use Finesse or herbal essences) on the damp hair, from root to tip. Now if you like volume blowdry your hair with your head upside down until it is mostly dry.

(At first it will look a little crazy but don't freak out, it will look great!)

Part your hair by sections

- if you hair is long then clamp a section to the root of your hair, then slide down towards the middle and curl, leave it for a few seconds then slide to the end and curl all the way to the root.

-Let it go slowly and dont touch it!!! just spray to with some light weight misting hair spray, herbal essences citrus mist is the best because it is such a thin mist, it dosent make the curl hard but holds it really well.

- Continue until all the sections are complete

- then turn your head down and mist all of the curls evenly and from far away

- finally style with your fingers or a brush depending on what kind of look you want to achieve and mist again!!

it sounds complicated, but it is not. It takes me and hr and a half tops and i have long, thick hair and lots of it! and so worth it to keep a beautiful curl all day long!

now if your hair is very, i mean extemely difficult to curl, try putting some pomade on each section before you curl it.

If you want a lose more natural curl, use curlers with a cloth covering, remmington is really good. Just repeat the same process but instead of using a curling iron, wrap you hair around curlers and leave on until the rollers are cool.

There is no way your hair will lose it's curl! and the best part is it wont be "crunchy" eww!

Tell me how it works out for you

I use hair spray but I hold the can really far from my head so that it hits my hair but doesn't clump up and make it hard and solid.

My hair is the same and I sleep with sponge rollers in my hair. They are not uncomfortable and hold my curl all day and into the evening too!

get a ceramic curling iron. I have one thats a 3/4 inch and it is specifically for spiral curls. Its not a normal curling iron it looks like its twisted into a spiral or like theres a track for your hair so that it rolls up into a spiral. Anyways..that one works really well on my hair and i don't even have to use hairspray. So far that one works better than my regular curling iron and the curls stay in ALL day. good luck!

Use "light" or "flexable hold" hairspray. It will keep it in place longer without getting all clumpy or gross.
