I have thick, dull, wavy hair. Any suggestions to get rid of the poof, ad shine, and help straighten

I have dark, short hair. It is extremely frizzy and dry. I've tried a lot of things, and nothing works! It takes me half an hour to straighten my hair, and it comes undone within a few hours. I live in hot, humid Georgia and that doesn't help either!

i absolutely love john freida products. get them at wal mart, you'll save a fortune. 1-frizz ease straight answer shampoo 2-frizz ease straight answer conditioner 3-hair syrum 4-straightening blow dry spray 5-finishing creme. this sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't, i'm in the shower and out the door in only 30 minutes. i noticed a difference in my hair immediately; after only a week it was like i'd had a hair transplant, my hair was so dramatically changed. it's so shiny, straight, and manageable. my sister lives in another state, and the first time she saw my hair she could not stop talking about it and touching it and staring at me. which felt great!!!

one final note, i've found that with any hair care product, i need to alternate its use, otherwise eventually the product loses its effectiveness. so, i do three weeks with john frieda and then a week of herbal essences, then back to john frieda again. i do this with skin care products, too. it may sound strange but i think your body adjusts its ph levels if you use one set of products too long and then they don't work as well. good luck!!

As long as you reside in Georgia, you will continue to have this problem.....

I suggest moving.

Try a GHD! Its pretty expensive but it works really good and it lasts u the whole day!!! If you think its too expensive try a GHS! Just go to a salon and they will probably know whats best! Or u could dye it soo it doesn't look dull!

I would try going to a good salon and asking them to trim off some of the frizzy ends first, then thin out the rest of your hair so it is manageable. Hot oil treatments also do wonders for conditioning your hair. You can buy them at the drugstore and just pop them in some hot water for a couple of minutes. If your hair is really frizzy, do the hot oil treatments more frequently, like once a week. And make sure to always use conditioner and let it soak in. Hope this helps.

I love Suave Sleek Look shampoo and conditioner. Try that. Use LOTS of conditioner. And use the leave in conditioner after. And then use a good ceramic straightener. Some of the more expensive conair ones are good. And follow up with something like Herbal Essences Pin Straight hair spray or Aussie Instant Freeze.

You should get your hair cut into layers and make sure all the "dead" hair is cut. Make sure you use good shampoo and conditioner that moisturizes. Pantenne has some really good stuff like the restoratives collection. If you keep straightening your hair it will eventually start to stay but most people say you should work with your hair and not against it.

Try using Treseme conditioner and getting a perm or a special hair gel made just for that or ask a beauty salonist.

i have the same frizzy poof thing you describe. try a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. keep your hair trimmed regularly. use a polishing serum before you try to straighten it....the stuff is suposed to add shine. use a ceramic (vs metal) flat-iron

Have you tried curly hair? My hair used to be like that because I tried to straighten it but it just ended up curly and now I get so many compliments on it. If you hair is frizzy while it is curly or straight don't dry it with a towel use a cotton shirt or paper towels. Then use a anti-frizz gel (aussi's works great!)

I have the same type hair as you, but I'm letting mine grow out. I have found that pure virgin unrefined coconut oil works wonders for my hair. This is great for people with dry frizzy fuzzy hair.I use nutiva brand. I apply a little while my hair is damp and work through. As for getting it straight it also takes me awhile. That's why I'm growing it out. I'm tired of fighting with hair that doesn't want to be straight(I'm from Alabama) because of the humidity. Try playing up your curls and working with them. It's a lot easier than working against it. Good luck!

well i have super thick wavy hair and my hair is up to my shoulders and i live in vegas so it gets humid here too.what you have to do is go to a salon and ask them to thin out your hair with a razor.oh and buy a ceramic straightner the one i have is $100 but you can get less costly ceramic straightners. these straightners add shine and no FRIZZ all day.

You could color it - close to what your real hair color is. Or frost it. Use infusium 123 leave-in-treatment after you wash your hair - that will take care of the frizz all day. They even have straighteners that you can put on your hair but I've never tried them.

I have the same kind of hair you do and i just moved from a humid state first take a shower to get your hair wet then dry your hair but make sure it stays damp enough that you can straighten it. next get one of the straighteners that spray the water to keep it wet. the final step is to put gell in and let your hair dry.

p.s. make sure you don't put to much gell in.

I have the same problem. I get done washing my hair and its super thick very wavy and doesnt look like it has any shine. I have a solution! I condotion really well in the shower just so its easierto comb through, then when its dry apply a small dot of Citr'e Shine-shine miracle anti frizz serum ( its like 4 dollars at Wal-Mart) then straight iron it. After im done I put a tiny more amount of The serum and my hair looks great! I also dont shampoo everyday as it totally dries my hair out. Plus I dont like to straight iron my hair everyday because its also drying. I wait every 3 days or so (if you can stand it)

Good luck and im sure this will work for you!
