My 3 yr old daughter has a single strange short thick black hair growing from her side about mid-tor

It seems to have an appearence of a whitehead around it. It just appeared in the last few days. Is it normal or should we take her to a dermatologist?

it's an ingrown hair. clean it then pluck it. clean again. sanitize your plucker before using. take her to the dr. if it gets infected. id it comes back call the dr. office!

If this is a serious question, please take her to the doctors as it could become infected.

Depends on how short the hair is. If it looks kind of like a bump it could be a wart. Warts sometimes have a tiny black hair growing from them, and resemble a whitehead. I would probably go to the dermatologist wart or not. Could be normal, could be a hazard.

Is there an area of pigmented skin surrounding the hair? Is there a raised lesion or change in texture around this hair? What is the child's ethnicity? Does this hair grow back if pulled?

Sounds odd, to just appear like that on such a young child. I would take her to a doctor on Monday. DON'T try to pop it, or pluck it, which might just make it worse, let the doctor see it for what it is. It could be a mole that developed, or a pimple, but let a professional put your mind at ease and let it get documented. Let us know what you find out. Your primary physician would need to see your dtr first to give a referral to a dermatologist, if even necessary.
